Nehalem Bey, nicknamed, Shah is one of our purebred Arabians born on the farm on May 13, 1999.UPDATE
Diagnoses: Cushings Disease
In May 2008, Shah had a near fatal episode of colic followed several months later with severe laminitis. Shah had bilateral dorsal hoof wall resections in August of 2008. In February of 2009 his left front P3 was showing signs of rotation and sinking and a tendon was cut to relieve the pressure and give him comfort. Unfortunately, in June 2009, Shah's left hoof collateral cartledge began to degenerate. He was placed on antibiotics for a month. In July when xrays were taken it was discovered that is left hoof was not improving and his right was beginning to founder again. At this time we made the heartbreaking decision to have him euthanized. He was was cremated and his ashes are buried on the farm. I thought about taking this page off our website, but he was such a special horse that I decided to leave it up as a tribute.
